Erin Green, M.Ed

Erin Green is a justice-oriented educator, student, writer, and researcher. She is a native Austinite and a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas. Both her research and her teaching experience focus on critical, anti-racist elementary social studies. She has taught both elementary and middle school, specializing in integrated social studies and language arts curriculum centered around social justice and the voices of the marginalized.

Dr. Vi⁣ckery & Dr. Naseem-Rodriguez offer some specific insight and suggestions to help elementary teachers can an intersectional approach to teaching the civil rights movement.
In an attempt to bring academia and teachers closer together, I’ll be sharing quick quotes and major points from research I’m reading for my doctoral program. ⁣
Making the transition from a full time classroom teacher to a full time doctoral student was not an easy transition for me. For the better half of the last decade, I’ve had two loves: academia and the k-12 classroom. It seems like these two worlds should fit together so easily, but far too often they don’t. ⁣⁣
Today in second grade we learned about Wilma Mankiller, the first female principal chief of the Cherokee Nation. ⁣
Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Today is a great day to say no to colonizing curriculum and to provide students with accurate portrayals of American history.
In class this evening we discussed how we support LGBTQIA+ students, and how we support teachers and prospective teachers in this work. ⁣
